A Beginning, Not a Launch—The Story Behind Voice & Vine

When we started Voice & Vine, it wasn’t because the internet needed another blog. The world’s not exactly short on opinions or essays about faith. But despite that, we just couldn’t shake the sense that something quieter and more personal was missing.
For years, both Jeff and I have been writing and processing in the margins; journaling, sharing notes with friends, or scribbling thoughts that never saw daylight. Then one day, we started talking about what it would look like to create a space for that kind of writing. The kind that’s honest, reflective, and rooted in lived faith, not performance or polish.
We wanted to make something that didn’t preach at you, but sat next to you. A place for stories, questions, and reflections about what it actually looks like to follow Jesus in real life, with all its mess, mystery, and mercy.
That conversation turned into an idea, and that idea turned into this: Voice & Vine.
The name comes from what we hope this space becomes—a voice, not a platform. A vine, not a brand. Something that grows quietly, connects deeply, and stays rooted in the truth that all life flows from the same source.
We’ll keep releasing new writing through the end of the year and into early 2026. Some of it will be personal reflections like the ones we’ve already shared. Some will be collaborative pieces, and maybe even conversations, letters, or essays from friends walking this same path. We’re not trying to keep a schedule so much as a rhythm that's steady, sustainable, and real.
Mostly, we just want to make space for the kind of writing that helps us both slow down, listen, and remember what matters.
If any of it resonates with you, we’re glad you’re here. If not, that’s okay too. We’re not out to convince anyone of anything. Just to keep telling the truth as we’re learning it.
Thanks for reading, for caring, and for walking with us as this thing takes shape.
